Adventure Destinations in India
India, paradise for adventure lovers, where every part has more than something for enjoying adventure vacations.

The moment a traveler enters Ladakh, he is welcomed by the mountains of varied colors, covered with a sheet of snow and in the backdrop of an intense blue sky. One can only fantasize these sceneries, until you visit Ladakh. The people residing here are quite different from rest of India. The faces and physique of the Ladakhis, and the clothes they wear, are more akin to those of Tibet and Central Asia than of India.

The most attractive features of the landscape of Ladakh are the Buddhist gompas or monasteries. Built either on the highest point of the mountain or over the cliff sides, the gompas are located within the surroundings of villages. These aesthetically pleasing, architecturally interesting gompas are the epicenter of faith. They are places of worship, meditation and religious instruction for Buddhist people and possess a wealth of artifacts.

Ladakh holds vast tourism potential. State and central government have called for infrastructural development in the region. To attract more foreign tourist to the region government has decided to stop the entry fees which was charged to the foreign visitors before. Nature lovers from all over the world come here contributing a great deal in tourism industry of Ladakh. With the upgradation of infrastructural facilities like road, communication and transport tourist can expect better facilities here.

The desolate mountains of this high altitude desert and deep ravines reveal the natural beauty of Ladakh.

Camel Safari

Reason being that beside the savage and extreme image of this cold desert lies the adventure of exploring the beautiful landscape and passage through remote villages. One can explore the charming villages of Nubra on camel back. Nubra Valley is a fascinating place. Highly contrastive, the landscape would immediately change from fertile green apricot fields to a dry Saharan Desert-like terrain with snow-capped peaks in the distance.

Yak Safaris
Yak Safari is a safari with a difference. It is an experience unique to Ladakh. Exploring lakes, glacial valleys, gurgling streams, cascades, chiseled snow peaks, meadows, forests on yak can be a lifetime experience. It offers breathtaking views of high peaks of this rugged land.

Only dare devils can dare to climb these. Climbing and conquering the lofty peaks of Ladakh needs extreme fitness. However, before attempting to climb any peak acclimatisation to weather is necessary. Climbing peaks in Ladakh may require one to three weeks.

Magnetic Hill
Unbelievable! a vehicle with its ignition off can move uphill, but in Ladakh seeing is believing. The legendary powers and magnetic properties of hill have ensured that it has place in the itinerary of most tourists visiting Ladakh. The hill is located 25 km from Leh at an altitude of 4200 m above the sea level.

Ladakh Trekking
For trekking in Ladakh you must be prepared to face all difficulties. The Chadar is not a trek but a journey; a journey into the heart of Zanskar-a land that is cut off from the outside world for over half the year, and can only be visited in winter by following one of the strangest trade routes in the world, the frozen Zanskar river. The river freezes in midwinter and is safe to walk on until late February. This spectacular trek follows the traditional trading route through the Zangsker Gorge.

Ladakh Wildlife
Ladakh possesses virtually no natural forests, though along riverbanks and valleys some greenery does exist. In this extremely harsh environment the untrained eye would hardly see any evidence of wildlife at all. Animals, which have adapted to the rigorous conditions however, thrive on the minimal vegetation, poor shelter, rocky terrain and bitter cold. Nevertheless, most creatures, notably the ungulates, do migrate to lower regions in winter while others, like the brown bear and marmots, choose to hibernate.
